If Caine declined the role I would've offered it to Tim Curry and I can totally see him nailing it. When you watch YT today for channels which focus on "Street Photography", what you get is badly composed snapshots of car fenders, empty street, roads or fields, or some hidden snap of someone doing something of no interest at all - that last one being the theme, "look what I got away with". If you look at any sequence of Maier's photography, you will see the working definition of street photography: tight compositions, perfectly exposed, and a single highlighted subject, either inherently interesting or doing something which conveys some interesting theme. That's the difference between the mediocrity of YT video presentations and serious photography.

You know, I wonder what has happened to architecture in the last century. This Farnsworth House, much lauded in the architecture world, is a fraud. It never was a real house but it was sold as one. The wealthy woman buyer eventually took the architect to court, complaining how unlivable the house was. She lost her case, apparently because the powers that were sided with the architect in believing the building was a mere prototype and work of art. This confirms my suspicions about Modern Architecture and Modern Architects. Architects are so arrogant that what they build is meant to please them not the people who work in it or, worse, have to live in it. They don't care about about delays and cost overruns or what the client wanted. What they create are actually sculptures that are meant to celebrate their genius. They are not meant to be conducive to help workers do their jobs or to provide inviting spaces to people moving in. Modern Architecture is a racket that people like Edith were suckered into. When will people understand that the architect feels absolutely entitled to do what he wants even if what he creates encounters all sorts of problems due to his creativity that lacks a common understanding of physics. People get screwed again and again. I am thoroughly tired of seeing films praising the genius of Mies, Gehry, and Le Corbusier. We need films that lay bare the truth that these emperors have no clothes.
